Stitchlines can also become a visible design element. I used flat felled seams for strength, but found that their visibility affected the garment’s symmetry—especially at the center back. To address this, I added stitchlines on both sides of some seams to create a decorative, fishbone-like effect, even when not functionally necessary. I also experimented with cut-outs on the legs and back. To balance the texture and weight around these cut-outs—especially near areas with fabric manipulation—I layered fabric on both sides. For the finishing touch, I added vintage red and brown beads to complement the dark navy fabric. A beaded chain on the back swings freely while walking, adding movement and personality. Additional beads were sewn onto the manipulated fabric areas to create a cohesive, echoed detail that enhances the garment’s tactile and visual appeal without compromising comfort or functionality when seated.
