The symbolic and emotional significance of silver jewelry, particularly within the Miao (Hmong) culture in China. For Miao girls, silver jewelry is essential at each turning point of growth, mirroring the transformation of a butterfly, which inspired the collection’s evolving silhouettes. Influenced by traditional aesthetics that value weight and volume to signify family power and protection, the designs feature wide, layered shapes using see-through fabric to evoke strength, femininity, and mystery. Textures mimic the natural imperfections of handcrafted silver, embedding visible "traces" of the designer’s process into the fabric. The color palette—black, white, gray, and red—echoes the visual transformation of silver during soldering, symbolizing a complete life cycle from rawness to rebirth. This collection celebrates memory, transformation, and the quiet power of material storytelling.
